Supporting refugee families who are new to the community

Several Oak Bay locals have been reaching out to the community in recent weeks in search of household items as well as children’s items and furniture in order to help new families settle in Oak Bay. One refugee support group has secured housing for a soon-to-be local family this week and rallied the community in order to get the home furnished and ready to live in. Oak Bay locals have generously gotten all of the supplies needed, including bedding and beds, sofas, chairs and a table as well as other items. Love to see it!

Where to go to see the fall colours around the community

One Oak Bay local was looking for advice this week on where to go to see the fall colours in and around the community. Locals shared their favourite spots by posting photos of and sharing their recommendations in and around Oak Bay. Some recommended spots included Lombard Drive in Metchosin, Aylard Farm in Sooke, Goldstream park, Hatley Castle, Royal Roads University Japanese Garden, Ross Bay Cemetery and someone said that Oak Bay just happens to be a great place to start.
