One local reached out to the group for suggestions as to what drought resistant plants have done well here, and where to go for the best prices and quality. Dozens of other local gardeners commented their recommendations, which included Demitasse, Russell Nursery, Costco (which buys from Hilltop and other Island growers) as well as GardenWorks, which is an Oak Bay mainstay, that has been praised for the quality service and expertise. | | | Busted bus shelter | Several in the community expressed their sadness this week after the glass was destroyed at a bus shelter at the corner of Foul Bay and Fort (which is technically considered Victoria). The incident prompted some concern and calls to replace the material for something that doesn't shatter. While the incident has been reported, and the damage has since been cleaned up and will likely be fixed soon, many community members were wondering if this and other bus shelters in the community would be better off with a Plexiglass or plastic shelter, less likely to be destroyed in the future. Security cameras, which can capture such incidents are installed in many areas, yet the incidents continue to arise.
