Oak Bay property owners upset over proposed property tax increase |
Municipalities are dealing with the increasing costs, and Oak Bay's draft financial plan has proposed an 11.6% increase for 2023 for property owners, in order to help deal with the increased costs and to support upcoming capital expenditures. This has many in the community concerned and upset, with many saying they are struggling to accept the rising costs on their properties in recent years. Some suggested that renters have been bearing the burden of these increased costs for a while now, and it's to be expected that homeowners should face the same. Most Oak Bay locals are familiar with the work of Mary MacArthur, a local photographer known for capturing what locals love about the community. |
With an eye for natural landscapes through all seasons and times of day, Mary's work is regularly featured on Oak Bay Local, and now she is challenging the others to do the same. She is encouraging those who want to participate to submit a photo every Monday on a theme, which will be announced each Monday, and posted the following Monday. Rules of her challenge include: no props, drones, homes, or people, and it must be taken in Oak Bay. |
The next upcoming challenge is due Monday, Mar. 27, with the theme of #seabirds. |
