| | Oak Bay family tries to track down a missing stroller | An Oak Bay mom reached out to the community after their stroller went missing recently. She wasnβt aware of whether it was left somewhere by a mistake (and acknowledges the oversight may have been due to lacking a bit of sleep these days) or whether someone may have taken it, either by mistake or on purpose. | While she did file a police report, several other locals reported seeing the teal stroller near the playground of Willows School at various times. While it hasnβt yet been located, itβs possible that someone may have mistaken it for a stroller that was left outside for free, which is common practice in and around Oak Bay as a way to share things that are no longer needed. If you did come across this stroller, or if you have seen it, contact Oak Bay Police who are in contact with the owner, but be sure not to take it. As another reader noted, the stroller is relatively common and another mom was wondering whether some of the reported sightings of the missing stroller, was in fact one that belonged to another family. | |

| | IN OTHER NEWS | | Oak Bayβs upcoming sewer overhaul | More information has been released on the upcoming overhaul to Oak Bayβs aging sewer systems. The District will create separate stormwater and wastewater systems, using new federal ($3.5M) and BC ($3M) funding plus $2.4M of its own. The current antiquated combined system in the Uplands neighbourhood is susceptible to overflow, allowing effluent to enter streams and the ocean. | Oak Bay is trying to replace all of its aging infrastructure within 25 years but has contended with funding shortfalls for these projects. | The municipality has tried to tackle the deficit in recent years through tax rates, and its 2021 long-term Sustainable Infrastructure Replacement Plan won an asset management award from the Union of BC Municipalities.
