Stormwater and wastewater infrastructure will be separated as part of the upgrades, in order to safeguard against overflow during heavy rainfall. Oak Bay Mayor Kevin Murdoch said the investment will ensure residents and the wider region are better prepared for the impacts of climate changes. Many dog owners are concerned about potentially not having spaces where dogs can be off leash, while others are concerned for their safety in areas where dogs are currently allowed to be off leash. | Oak Bay council had previously delayed a decision on the matter, though some say there could be a decision on the horizon. Many in the community said that they planned to voice their concerns about further restrictions to leash-optional areas. | |

Many locals are wary about their donations going to a for-profit company, and prefer to have them be a benefit to those who need it the most. | Our Place Society is known for its service to the most vulnerable in the area, and they provide guidance on their website of numerous ways to give. Broadview United Church Thrift Store, WIN, The Salvation Army, SOLID on the corner of North Park and Cook, as well as the Fairfield Gonzalez Community Association are all recommended by locals as great organizations that benefit the community in various ways.
