Other community members shared their experiences that the drivers have been wonderful and caring, enabling older residents, or those with mobility issues, to get around easier to everything from family dinners, to lunches, and shopping. Others have said they have had problems with scheduling and those considering it should be prepared to undergo an assessment. There are other recommended services in the community as well, such as Oak Bay Volunteer Services, which offers transportation assistance, visits, social calls, and walks. Other Oak Bay locals have said they enjoy volunteering for these services, which have allowed them to feel connected to seniors, newcomers to Canada, and individuals living with mental or physical health challenges. | | | |
Oak Bay local Colleen Stevens has been known for her support for the charity Humanity for Horses, which is a local horse rescue that works to save horses from slaughter. After having collected donations for a while, her neighbours have created a bin and sign at 2048 Penzance in Oak Bay, which continues to accept donations such as returnable beverage containers.
