Though the growl can definitely be heard across the community, locals were informed that it actually comes from an airfield that is 48 kilometres away! Itβs all open water, and when the F-18s take off to the east their engines are pointing directly towards Oak Bay. | Some have gotten used to the sound after yearsβand in some cases decadesβof hearing the rumble, which to some fades into the background. Others were concerned and seeking advice from neighbours on whether there is a larger group of people who are bothered by it. Have you heard the rumble? | |

| | | What to do if you come across an injured deer? | An Oak Bay local reached out the the community after they encountered an injured deer and were unsure about what to do. Dozens of informed locals shared the information that any injured deer should be reported to BC conservation officers at 1-877-952-7277. | Unfortunately officers will only respond if the deer is not mobile. Others were informed that adult deer who are moving around may not receive a response, but Wild ARC will respond if there is an injured fawn. Another local said Public Works staff have promptly managed injured or deceased adult deer on their property before. |
